Someone Please Correct me if I am Wrong.
I was told that the reason that the Whipples were changed from side mount to top mount, had to do with efficiency and also that the manifold restricted the amount of usable boost, and rpm. With the blower on the top blowing through the intercooler, it was more efficient and allowed the engine to make more power in the upper RPM range.
I trust my source, (Dustin) and have one on top of a HP500 that works perfectly!!!!

thats how i understand it,,lower manifold on the mpi's where worst than the hp500.i'm hoping i solved the mpi manifold problem.time/speed increase will tell as i'm using an older side mount due to height restrictions.
Was told it fits inside standard Merc hieght manifolds?
