What ECM should I Buy?
I have twin 454 amg mpi's that are completly stock. I would like to get a little more out of them and I am thinking of changing the ECM units in them. Is this a good Idea and if so who should I use ASM, Whipple, ect? I would like to gain about 50 hp per motor.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: What ECM should I Buy?
I wouldn't go buy anything, since the stock ecm's that are on it now are re-programmable. I had one re-programmed on a 502 mag efi in a Eliminator 220 Eagle xp and it did absolutely nothing. It was a waste of time and money. There's really no sense in doing it unless you've made other changes to the motor, such as cam, heads or exhaust. You'll never get 50 hp by doing this. You might want to do some prop testing if you're looking for a little more out of your boat. I forgot, there are some supertune kits available for the 454 mag efi with low temp thermostat, adjustable fuel press regulator and re-programmed ecm, but I don't know if these are worth doing either. Maybe others will chime in on this one...

Thanks for the feedback. I had heard that Arizona Speed and Marine either reprograms or offers a new ECM that guarantees 50hp, I had also heard that Whipple has something similar, but if this is not true then I will not waste my time or money.

Re: What ECM should I Buy?
I guess I should have asked who should I get to reprogram mine. I have talked to the techs at whipple and they said that their reprograming of the ecms will give me a net gain of 25-35 hp and I could get about 50 if I also install a CMI exhaust. Any thoughts on this?
