I bought a kit from CP Perf http://www.cpperformance.com/product...ition-kits.htm

it included a neat mounting bracket, but it looks like it is for gen 4 heads as supplied. Might want to check that out.

Not cheap when you are all done. But the MSD stuff lasts.

Consider an HEI from Performance Distributor/Davis Unified Ignition. Half the wires, a lot less money, reliable, and you can get replacement parts anywhere.

Go with the DUI H.E.I. sytem!!! They will custom curve it for you and with there sytem it's good up to 7000rpm's. In a pinch you can get parts at ANY auto parts store. HIGHLY RECCOMEND them

I agree with Biggus, buy a 3rd box to keep on board. Just love how the distributors rust too.

In the process of doing this, with roller cam you are supposed to use a different cam gear with a roller cam than is supplied with the stock MSD dist. right? My builder says that he put a"Mellonized" gear on, to me it looks like a regular steel gear. I asked him about it he said he put the Mellonized gear on . Maybe a "mellonized" gear just looks like steel. Just paid 700 for the complete system, you need dist., ignition box with wiring harness, rev limiter, coil, plug wires. There is an additonal problem of how to mount the all these parts. I think I am going to go with hardins all in one mount. Another 100 bucks, but worth it. I think that is why people are rec. the DUI. I would have gone with this, but my builder is comfortable with working with the MSD components. Eric

The hydraulic roller cam that I used from Comp Cams already had the gear installed on the camshaft that is compatible with a stock type dist. gear. It might be pressed on after the cam is ground, not shure. As far as the MSD box is concerned I mounted it along with the rev limiter on the transom right behind the engine. I used rubber bushings to isolate it from vibrations. As far as durability, I've had this system for 4 or 5 years ( box, dist. , wires, coil, rev. limiter) with no issues. Everything looks as good as the day I installed it.
