Unhappy 454 Mag - Spun Bearing

I just got the bad news, it looks like I spun a bearing in my 454 mag. Now I need to make some quick decisions to get it up and running again. I have a mark IV block, rect. port heads, full roller set up, dart single plane intake, holley 800 carb and lightning headers. Pistons, cam and other inards probably don't matter at this point.

I've had this in a 24 Daytona that runs about 75 mph on gps. My guess on current HP has been 475 - 500 and I would like to repower closer to 550 - 600.

I could stroke the engine to 496 but I need some thoughts on parts and $ along with ultimate HP and reliability.

I also have seen suggestions of going to a 540 short block and bolting my top end and accessories on. What manufatures should I contact for this, and again, what $, HP and longevity. Also, would my current parts bolt up. I'm in Henderson NV. and have seen Dynoflow mentioned on thei board. Also Chief.

I need to be sensitive to $ but this is my one chance to make atleast the minimum HP this boat deserves.

Thanks for any opinions. I need to act fast.

If your MkIV block is a bowtie, it can be punched out to 4.500 and you can make a 540 out of it. Check for siamesed liners and a bowtie emblem near the fuel pump boss.

if your gonna build a short block it cost the same to build 540 cubes as it does to build 604 cubes...wink wink, it'l make more power everywhere and you won't have to rev it as hard. its all about torque anyway. at least go 572. 4.5 x 4.5

If you're in Vegas, check with DynoFlo (Henderson), they have great prices on short blocks...

Is Dynoflo the place that has had all the stoker kits and stuff on Ebay?

Good luck
