Spoke to Randy this morning. Jim is Still in intensive care and under close observation. No surgery yet. the full details are not clear. From what I am getting, there was blunt force trauma to his coratid artery, possibly from his helmet strap, when the water rushed in, which starved his brain for blood. He suffered a stroke as a result. Too soon to tell if there is any permanent damage. Only time will tell.

I just left the ICU here in Miami and Jim is in stable condition. He will have to stay in the ICU for at least another day or two. He suffered a stroke from lack of blood to his brain. He has partial movement back in his left side which is great new at this point. The next few days are critical and we are all pulling for him. He has been sleeping most of the time and in pain when he is a wake. I will give you all more details as I know.

The reason for stroke was the force of the water trying to rip the helmet off his head. The helmet strap was tearing on his artery and partially ripped the vain. When in the ER in KW they were primarily looking for head tarama only. Later that night some of the skin on the vain moved and slowed down the flow of blood to his brain. The Dr. in Miami felt it was better not to attempt surgery at this time due to the risk of life. His blood pressure has been boosted up to attempt to see if the vain will start to heal itself. Thats the best I can describe it now. He has talked very little at this time but is sedated pretty good.

Well for once I'm totally at loss for words. I was unaware of what happen until this morning when I stopped by Randy's shop. I'm lost here, can't come up with the words right now. Randy, you hang in there, if you need me to do any thing at the shop while your away don't hesitate to call. I'm not a religious person, but Jims in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted.
