HP575 SCi question
I'm having a Kryptonite 29 built. Engine is a HP525, XR drive w/ ITS.
Now, Merc runs a special on their HP575 SCi : free ITS. Since I want ITS, that's a savings for me.
I'm not hobbled by F1 rules (they wouldn't allow ITS anyway).
The HP575 would give me 50HP more at the same weight (actually, a few pounds less).
Any experience with that engine? Can it be hopped-up easily, for instance by raising the boost of its blower?

I would not necessarly count on and extra 50hp. Several reports from around the industry as well as several threads here at OSO report the 525efi closer to 540hp on the dyno.
Another consideration is that the 525efi runs on 87 while the 575sci requires 93 octane.
As far as adding boost, the extra heat generated and the stress on the components, I just don't know. Several NJPPC members have the 575sci package, thay may have more info.

You'll have closed cooling on the 525 and I've heard that hp is really close. I have twin 575's and love em. Spinetickler on the board did the upgrades on his 575's (chiller , etc) and he could probally tell you more. BH

I have also heard the 525efi is real close to the 575 and besides if I need a part I know where I can get it from.

That clinches it, Mad Candy. We'll both tell Kirk to fohgeddaboutit. I don't like to have an engine that's to be discontinued anyway (that's why they are offering specials ...)
