Thank You Mercury Racing!
We must tip our hats and say a heartfelt thank you to Mercury Racing for saving our bacon before the Savannah race. For anyone who doesn't know, we were rear ended driving through Jacksonville in heavy rain. Two cars spun out in front of us. One car ended up perpendicular in our lane with our big red truck barreling down on it. No doubt the occupants thought those were their last moments on earth. Somehow Allen managed to avoid that car on extremely wet pavement pulling a 5000# boat and trailer. After avoiding that near collision we were breathing a sigh of relief when WHAM - we were rear ended by a Ford truck following too closely. The boat's left trim tab was imbedded in the truck's radiator for a few moments before the driver separated his truck from our boat. We pulled off at the nearest exit, dreading to see what damage had been done to our boat. The Ford driver's truck looked a little worse for wear, and his radiator was spewing steam. Our outdrive had taken the brunt of the impact and while it was still bolted on it was missing parts and pieces, which is never a good thing. Plus we didn't know what internal damage had been done. After getting the Ford driver's insurance information he said if the cost was only going to be a few hundred dollars to repair the outdrive he'd just write us a check. Uh huh, a few hundred dollars to repair an outdrive... We spent the night in Jacksonville to figure out our next course of action and to make some phone calls, one of which was to Mercury. We were assured that their technicians would help us at the race. We pulled into Savannah early Thursday morning and the Mercury guys went to work. By mid-afternoon we had a new outdrive on the boat, which allowed us to participate in the river time trials on Friday (third place) and race on Saturday (third place). None of this would have been possible without the presence of the Mercury truck at the race. Those guys are heros in our book.
And a big thank you to Randy Schleuss for letting us cannibalize an outdrive part from his white Typhoon boat. It was a small part but it could have been a show stopper. Randy said "take what you need". He's a class act.

Yes, we'll be in Milwaukee but with a new driver. Andrew can't make that race.
Are you going? Sounds like Team B.R.E. might be going. If they're still driving that fast little Warlock they will be a force to be reckoned with.
