From the pace boat. F1-10 with Typhoon following have a 3 mile lead on the rest of the fleet followed by Screaming Eagle, BRE anf Velocity.
Conditions... flat sloppy chop from the boats.
Look for lots of extra weight being added to the boats running the 525's and HP3's.

Add any more weight to me and I'll sink. They keep telling me their going to give a break, my boat is slower with the hp3 plus 350lbs (total 5325) than the hp500EFI, We start some races at 5650 to make weight at the end of the race. I give up on these flat water races thats why were not at Milwaukee. The formula for making F1 equal is out-a-wak, one weight for everyone with a penalty for horsepower. The 26' boats have been kicking everyones ass for the last 3 years. See ya in Sarasota, maybe a Hurricane will brew up and give us a shot.

Eddie,
The powers to be have some thinking to do about this power problem. Fortunately, the rules allow for selective adjustment for specific boats within a class and APBA has always worked hard to keep the boats within a class competitive. Look at Spiderman and Tommy Bahama. You may not be the only one looking for big water races. See ya in Sarasota. We're book and will definitely be there.

Too damn many engine options in the F classes.
496HO/Bravo XZ drives for everybody..... forever, not changing every time a new package comes out. Cheap...reliable...plenty of hp to put on a good show. Weight based in length.
Think that would work?

DanB,
I agree with the concept of one engine/drive package. We are at a turning point in the technology arena. Carbs are a thing of the past so there goes the HP500 carb. Now we are down to the HP500 EFI, HP525 EFI and the HP3. GM Vortec is "the" major sponsor now with the pull out of Mercury. The 496HO is nothing more than a HP3 but offered by Mercury. It is a sticky mess but how do you make it right for everybody now that you have all these choices and everybody going their own direction on their personal engine program. God forbid somebody comes up with a different drive and APBA goes for it. At least there is some continuity there.
It will play out over time but not without a few people getting their panties in a knot.
