Re: 2005 F1/f2 496 Ho
you guys do realize that the above combinations are not merc OEM packages!!!...gimbals,pins,u joints, transome ass.,offshore mounts, and coupler...merc racing is merc racing...NOT merc HO....keep in mind they will not even have a sparkplug on the truck for race support!
works great for existing merc racing packages but not 2 build one.
what's done is done...i hope it works out for them...
cya in another class in 05.

Frank, are these APBA's rules or just SBI's? Have you dropped a 496 in your boat yet and tested? And have you tried it with and with out a box? My guess is maybe 2-3 mph difference at an expense of $7000. If it is a factory class and no manufactures sell 25'-30' vee bottom boats with a 496HO package with boxes on them ,why make the racers do it? I thought the factory class was to race what they sell to the public. It also would make everyone who already has a F1 boat feel the need to go buy a box.
If anyone agrees with me now would be the time to speak up!

Randy,
Thanks for the info but we are staying the course. Not sure what APBA rules are and I'm not sure if they are completed yet but I'm sure they will be by KW.You might want to give them a call.
Last year when we tried to leave it up to the racers nothing happen. We have gotten alot of input for many teams.Last year I member alot of teams blame the organization for not making a decision. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. We don't live in a perfect world so all we can do is try our best, but at least positive step are being taken. From all your input sounds like you will be racing F1 again next year.
Some of your cost prices are way off Randy,it is not all that much more.
Frank

Frank, not to be a pain in the butt, I would make the extension box rules the same as APBA. If you dont then you run the risk of not getting to many boats running in SBI. Sorry if this offends you Im just trying to help in the long run.
For the record, I am extremely excited about the revision of factory racing! Thank-you for bringing it back for 05
