Thumbs up Biloix, Mississippi

Only three weeks to go until the kickoff of the 2005 Offshore Super Series racing season. The 2nd Annual Smokin’ the Sound will be April 22-24, 2005 in Biloxi, on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The 3 day event will have a variety of activities, including live music and a meet and greet area in the Point Cadet Race Village where spectators will be able to meet the crew and operators of the OSS race boats. The race course will run through the Mississippi Sound, conveniently located behind Casino Row.Spectators will be able to watch and hear the races in a straight-away perfect for viewing.

Smokin’ the Sound Race Producer and Executive Director of Crusin’ the Coast, Gene Oswalt stated, “The entire community is eagerly anticipating the races coming back. We love our association with OSS and the dedicated professionals associated with the group. Plans are well underway to make this year’s event bigger and better and the future looks great for our Biloxi venue.”

The Mississippi Convention and Visitors Bureau nominated Smokin’ the Sound for the 2004 Mississippi Event of the Year. The race brought over 30,000 spectators to the Biloxi area as well as the Governor of Mississippi, Haley Barbour and his wife, the lovely First Lady Marcia Barbour.

The OSS inaugural race was nominated due to its success, the economic impact it brought to the state of Mississippi, the professionalism of the Offshore Super Series staff, the local race producers and the wonderful entertainment the racers provided.

Race fans were able to relive *** the excitement of the OSS race teams and their boats when ABC station WLOX channel 13 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast aired the event Sunday, March 20th. The television show was also aired on the Turner Dish network Saturday, March 26th. For the next three weeks *** travelers stopping at the State of Mississippi’s visitors centers will have the opportunity to enjoy the same exciting broadcast as it is played in each center’s media-room.
