The few times I got serious about a newer, bigger....., fancier..., IO boat, it always included having two spare drives on stands in the shop.
Probably motors too.
Hearing stories like yours you don’t know whether to be more nervous buying or selling 😉
I have two complete spare motors (OBs) w/gear cases, on stands for the Checkmate project.
I started doing this after paying more for next day air shipping for a part to salvage a holiday (friends, reserved docks etc) weekend than the part itself.
Thats normally the only time **** breaks on me.
