J, those 47s ride sweet for sure. I cannot keep up with Ken in his when it gets big out. What was that setup on your old 47? How do you like the ride when compared to your new OL?

Videos for Dale haha
Ha, I remember that run to Kellys after I spun it out halfway, broke a few ribs, almost my foot, wrist and pretty beat up in general. Probably went about 30mph the rest of the way, with the bow riding high and no speed. If I recall, trim or tabs were not working, I was in a daze and couldn't think real straight at that point, just wanted to dock the boat at that point and be done with it for the day. what a wild ride that was.

I had a pretty good head of steam before that though!!! Top Guns WILL NOT successfully go thru 5 footers at 75mph...

.
My 47 was a 2005 with triple 525's. Once I had Dave put a new transom in it and I did the top ends I really liked the boat and its cruiser amenities. The boat ran well at any speed, had no bow rise, ran flat, and would pull a hole shot like my mastercraft....actually pulled a buddy of mine slalom skiing a few years back with it. That boat ran low 90's, (90-92 mph ). My Outerlimits is in a different class than the fountain from a build quality standpoint, it's much faster than the 47 and not as easily affected by a cross wind. The 47's tend to roll over on their sides with a cross wind and require a lot of tab to straighten them out. The Outerlimits has some bow rise during planning where the 47 had none. The cabin on the Outerlimits is really nice for an offshore boat, standup cabin, standup head with a shower, hot water, 2 AC units, Generator, TV, etc. The Outerlimits has 9'3" beam and really deep cockpit, giving it a bigger feel than the Fountain. Both are great boats, I think the Outerlimits rides a little better, has a much nicer cabin, more room, and is fast.

Cool - are you guys going up again at all before end of season? What does the new OL have in it for engines?

Looks like Tim will be out crushing the October Erie 15 footers!!! Will he go to PIB since it's after Labor day???

Nope, not at all, just good old fashion ball busting, and you said I wouldn't be doing any better then 15, or someone said I just said bs on that as I been out in all conditions while most sit at home. I sill say I let up on that after the mistress ride, more then 5-6's I'm just staying in no reason to hurt anyone or myself.

It’s different up on the islands now w/people starting season early and pushing it until late.

I remember back in the day (late ‘80’s) I’d get all wired up to go up and get the season started and I’d be the only one there!

I have a great pic of my first Sonic tied up @ PIB W/the Beer Barrel sign in background, very late season.
I sat in their w/the locals and watched the presidential debate between slick willy, George Sr and Ross Perot!
That was the night Perot told slick willy that if he passed NAFTA you’d hear a giant sucking sound of the all the jobs being sucked to Mexico.

Mine was the only boat in the harbor that night, and it snowed!

Or the time I went to Pelee in April.
My fixation w/that island has been expensive.
Blew a powerhead @ s end of island in pea soup fog.
Had the gf w/me and decided to go the rest of the way to the Scudder Bar on the n end.
Told her at least we could celebrate spring ( was 45*) w/the locals.

Boat wouldn’t plane on one motor so 7 mph was all it would do for the last 10 mls.
On top of that they were having a walleye tournament that weekend and even though I couldn’t see the bow of my boat due to the fog, you could hear those idiots flying by!

Finally get to the harbor and again, no one there!
Their ferry is their umbilical cord w/mainland Canada for supplies.
I knew it lost a motor previous fall and they were replacing it over winter.

They waited 3 months for it and when it showed....., it was the wrong rotation!

So the island was closed.
Bar was closed and only a municipal worker was there.
Loved him as he gave me his last cup of coffee!!

Way different having friends w/you.

Saw the signs last weekend at the Casino for the clam bake.
