Yep
Will start to freeze along shoreline then waves break it up.
First time Ive seen it that big in yrs.
Several yrs ago if froze solid and people were leaving the hotel parking lot via 4 wheelers and snowmobile where we were staying.
On of those pixs is from that room.
I sat in our warm room w/my hot coffee and watched em head out.
There were ice ridge lines 10’+ tall, several hundred yards out.
Was **** visibility and they’d disappear beyond that!
When it does freeze, the Coast Guard rescue fisherman every yr, from ice masses that breakaway from the shoreline!
There were ice fishermen out last weekend where it was shallow so frozen solid.

On Lake Simcoe (Ontario) , there has been several years where the wind starts to push the ice upon shore like that and it literally crawls across yards like something from an old "B" black and white movie and wipes out cottages like they were built out of match sticks...
Big cat Dozers can't even push it hard/fast enough in an attempt to save a cottage

Couple hrs to a couple days, pending weather.
When we went up Friday the wind was howling out of the west which is the end we visit.
The lake is shallow so normally the wind will drop water level 2 - 3’ that end and have 6’ - 8’+ waves building toward east end of lake.
If the ice was frozen a foot thick along shoreline, that wind/waves would have broke it up and stacked it up.
It was already frozen though so wind had little effect.
Ive seen 20’+ tall stacks of ice.
They say water is a force of nature, try fkg w/ice!
