Default 388

the factory test report on my boat was 86.7mph.500 efi
it now has b max s on it with 1.30 gear and 4 blade 24 turns about 5300rpm at 83 mph , on a bad day full gas , water, 5 people 3 ice chest full about 79-81 mph, they said the b max slowed it down because of gear size , chip said the gear ratio slowed it down the most, the 1.50 with 30 Moore efficient, i think he is mostly rite.i test drove some be fore i bought this one one was 84 the other was 86 one the lite side with 225 hrs. on it . most i here about it around 84-85 on a good day. haven't heard any thing on te 575 yet. heard the 344 575 was 93-95?. it took me 11 months to find and decide on this boat, will be glade to talk to you i looked at all the used one and talked to all the guys on the new . i researched it a lot!. there is a left over 344 out there around 165. most of the used 344 ive seen are higher.l lighting marine blew out a 388 around may 2001 for around 165this as prob below his cost, prob had some hrs on it ,demo ?

Default BMAX

In your August entry, you indicated that you were running a 1.3 gear. What was the reason that they told you for using a 1.3? They told me that the 1.3 was needed as I had talked about plans to supercharge my 575s.

the boat had whipples on it, they said it needed this gear for the prop selection, they said it turned the 1.30 with 32 labed 6000rpm , don't know, but this is what they told me .they had problems with the whipples and took the off before i bought the boat. now i wish i had the 1.50 with the original 30 this is the way it came from the factory and would be faster i believe. they say running the 32 or bigger is not as efficient because of such a steep blade angle pitch, but some times you run out of gear.i think the 1.50 is a stronger gear also?
another reason i keep the 1.30 gear i plan on supercharging it again.so its 50/50.

I have a 2000 388 with 500EFI's Poker Run Edition. My test sheet showed radar at 91mph. I ran the shootout in 2001 and on flat water high humidity it radared at 84 mph. I think the true speed in rough water is around 87 mph. On a cool day I might pick up a couple MPH.
