Re: Arnesons on 388's
I rode in the Black Cloud 388 about 5 years ago during the 1000 islands poker run . That was one hell of a ride with those arnesons and twin 1000hp motors. The only complaint I heard about it was that because the best set up for the boat was to run the drives and props rotating inward that it at times was a handful to drive and had even hooked at high speed a few times. There a few times when I was in it where it felt a little squirley but it was an awsome boat! I have seen a new 344 Cheatah with arnesons for sale and it is the new sit down set up that thing looks like it should fly even with 525's.

Re: Arnesons on 388's
Do any of you guys know anyone running this setup? I am considering this for mine and would like to talk to a few people about it. Has anyone made the conversion?

Rik which set up is this.
Rik On the Bravo conversion do you have to re glass the transom???
There looks like a lot of Hustlers are going to the Arnesons.

Those are ASD8-10" drop box drive units mounted on a 31 degree angle.
The boat has a set of Yanmar 440's in it and I think it runs 85-86.
Bravo conversion does not require you re-glass the transom as the standoff box covers the Bravo cutout. You have to open the transom up a bit for the transmission to fit through. Other than that, nothing special has to be done to the boat for a standard side by side application.
They work really well on the Hustlers, but the same can be said for all the applications so far.

They use the SSM#6 propellers.
Typically, they use a 5 blade 16.5 diameter by what ever pitch is needed to run the speeds.
Midrange they pick up over 10 and top end 5 or more.

correct me if i'm wrong .... but that's the old Gale Banks setup with throttle bodies and EFI?
it works ... but not too hi-tech in my opinion for what Keith is capable of.

I am going to convert my boat to arnesons.
I'll let you guys know how it goes and post some pics later.
