Need Help
Have an old 32 (1987) with #6 arnesons, repowered but new motors didn't fit back in boat. The original Crusaders were 30 inches on center, new motors need 31 inches. Reglassed the stern (kevlar) and want to make sure the drives are in the best position. any help would be much appreciated!

Re: Need Help
Ric,
Thanks for the reply. I wish I would have posted prior to reglassing the stern but my problem isn't moving the drives astern. I have to remount the engines on wider centers. My boat was built by Hustler to race in an old sportsmans class. She is the old Lucky Strike boat and Hustler built the boat with the engines 30 inches on center. I repowered with a pair of 509s replacing the stock Pleasurecraft 454s ( I inaccuratly posted Crusaders), that had stock manifolds and risers which were 1/2 inch narrower the the KE headers on the motors now. I did try to find an exhuast system that would work but couldn't. Now I have to re-rig the boat and am not sure what the optimum placement of the drives in relation to the hull is. I tried to reach Chip Fendt, who is still with Hustler, but I can't find Hustler's web page for a phone number.
Thanks,
Rick

631-208-2933 is Hustlers phone #.
What type of drive lines are in the boat? There might be some flexibility to the installation there.
I have photos of the boat, it is from NY but you are in MD correct?
Moving the drives outward by 0.500" each side is easy, but still the standoff box will still make mounting easier as everything is mounted to the box and all you have to do is slide over.
BUT, with the standoff box, you will have a drive line and this is good for about 0.750" of offset on the same centerline as the drives currently are. But since you have already glassed the transom, just mount them over and the drive line will give you the flexibility to move the engines as necessary. Not to mention you will have the option of mounting the engines more rearward if you think you will need more bow lift.
Your trim tab locations might need to be moved if they were mounted in the way. I'll have to look at the photos.

Compliments of Rik.
Looks a Little tight to the trim tabs.
