Its totally surreal here. Ive actually been here 1-2 weeks a year for the last 10 years at the same show- hard to get around in a city built on a semi circle.
I wanted to get your take on the speed gap, some guys thing 90 is slow, others 55. I know well 10 is a big delta 10 mph is the historic avergae delta between cat and stepped V with same power ( my 20ft Sebring has about 10 on my buddys 22ft Cole Superhawk with a 625SC)
There are a bunch of pictures of its up they are just 2 .5 weeks old now one thread away - check it out as well as a nice hi res shot of me getting some major air on my 20.8.- I just need more.
Your ride sounds Killer- especially with a tank of 110 and a software tweak. When I talked to Taylor he said the injection system on that engine was programmable via laptop and he can dial it up or down at will. What it run on 92 octane?
Sure be cool if layed a copy of that license on you.
Dude compromises are killing me- I wanted the huge gauges, but I cant fit them with even the Furuno 8. Ron is tooling a custom panel just for me. So its gotta be the 8, with smaller gauges, (liek Quents almost exactly) but Im loading it up so it can overlay the radar on the chart- without bathymetric data lakes like powell can be a pain and a few feet make all the difference achoring at Santa Cruz impossible 55 vs 290ft of line- (I aint bringin 290ft of line anywhere in a 28.5 boat)
I got an "O face" when I saw the Doug Wright. (thats the name of my new boat)
"Uncle Dave"

Well the Furuno 8 inch screen is still not much of a downgrade it is an awesome unit very high end.
You start to run out of space on the helm with monster gauges and the like. If you had a blower motor you would have at least four more gauges---with no room--.
Hey Ron! does some sweet work if he sets his mind to it watch out--- real talented guy.
Yes! the license is a big deal not many people have one. Hell I'd be happy with just the damn password. It is amazing what you can do to the MEFI IV with a laptop--- air/fuel, barometric changes, knock sensors and stuff I do not even know.
It runs 104MPH but tops has been consistently 101.5MPH on 91octane but only when the temp. is cooler ie... less than 80 degrees. In the summer with the heat it is real hard to hit the high numbers even more so if the water is flat and sticky. Real hard to air the boat out when conditions are not good. As you know performance is directly connected to conditions your running on--- somedays you hit the high numbers and the boat is running awesome other days it will barely crack 92MPH. [Note: Boat weighs in at 5,250lbs. that is not light.]
Speed is relative and vary's with each person. It is my opinion that any speed can have disasterous results but when you get into speeds above 90MPH---it can kill you quick. The magazines all tout these ridiculous speeds like it's childs play but very few drivers have the experience to drive above this speed often and in the public right of way.
Having said the above I sure like to air the boat out when conditions are right .
Great talking with you.
