Single Arneson may be a bit tricky at lower speeds.
Konrad w/ an extension box may work.

No Cig,was in sarasota on sat.and spent a little time with Travis,(Magnum 27) and had a chance to look over his Magnum. If i was going to change my Transome set up i sure would be looking at what he is using, that about as clean a set up you can get.As far as the konrad goes its a great drive but no better then what you have, and still uses a tranny. The ansewer to get your speed up is set back, X dimension, prop, and right drive without tranny. Just my opinion for what its worth. Mel

The arneson would be a good alternative to the #3. You would need a drop box unit to get it where you want it and get the gear ration you would need. Not sure if a #6 would be big enough. Try Rik here on the board he would be the best to talk to.

No Cig,how you coming with your Mag.You posted you were turning 5700 rpm, what kind of speed that give you?I would bet on 80 to82mph.but i dont know much about a chopper prop.I sold my 502 race eng.to a fellow to replace h is 330 with a trs drive, in his 24 Excaliber. The day after he got it in and took his first ride i think i could have charged him twice as much and he would have still been happy. That boat of his could be a 27 sport with three ft cut off.Its crazy how many boats out there are nothing but copys of the old 27 Magnums.Have a good day and be safe.

No Cig.when i was first putting Vixen together i really didnt know a lot about putting together a boat to get the most speed out of it,even thou i worked every day on new go fast boats. You can ask a dozen different peaple in the trade how to set somthing up and you cant get two to come up with the same answer.I finally went and sat down with Richy Sutphan in the Cape because he had been building an racing this type of boat for years, and was the best thing i ever did.You being in Mich. have one of the best up there and he knows how to get the most out of a Magnum.Give Tyler Crocket a call or go see him,i bet he can get you that 80 to 83 fairly easy.
Have a good one. Mel
