It's kind of like this.
The rubbergasket is about 1" wide and about 1/6" thick, the top steel plate and the two lower steel rings are 1/8" thick and there is about 2.5" between the fasteners.
Still that wide gasket got pushed out in one of the 2.5" distances between the fasteners, and had expanded about 1/2" all around...Ļ
Something must have been very wrong with that "gas resistant" rubber!
Edit: I forgot about the gasket between the tank and the first steel ring (above the tank) in the pic... And I assume it's there

Thats your problem right there, not enough bolts to attach IMO.
The distance between them No more than one 1", now in your case even 1" is a bit much on the corners, Iīd put two more on every corner and none in the middle of the "apex" in the corners.
Then the rubber doesnīt get pushed away, Iīd also like to see another rubber on top of the plastic before the steel if I did understand that picture or then you have one steel plate too much IMO?
Hows the ventilation of the gas tank provided, being an EFI motor it might heat up the tank also a bit which pushes the rubber out or just plain temperature changes in general.
You didnīt pressure test the tank with 1 bar and hot water as I had to do years back now did you ?
Edit....ok so you have the rubber there on the plastic too... ;-)

So what I did was to remove the uper steel plate and could see that the rubber matt was in pieces in the tank. Tomas, you know that bigger piece of rubber matt we had for the exhaust rings etc? That one was of regular rubber (what I didnt know)..... Now I used A piece of the other one.. what is still in good shape next to the plastic. Together with the 5923 Loctite I think it will be good again. Next boat I will build gona have all stainless steel tank...
Mikey thanks for your advice....RUBBER is good to wear...ask our parents.... he he he.
So if everything works my way tomorrow I might gona try the 5 blade 32 Maximus.
Smuggler24, nice to see you today and I really hope we met saturday!

Get some rubber that has a reinforcing (a steel or other matt) that should do the trick, I have a real thick version at the garage of the stuff which I just thru out...
I could take a pic of it :-)
They are supposedly the same as fuel lines and can handle Gasoline and oil.
I donīt know how much of a motorhead you father "Big E" is but apparently he didnīt use reinforced rubber way back , well itīs too late to be sorry now :-)
Edit: Hey Enroth...contact me...

Thanks Guyz.
We had rain all sat and only had 15-20 minutes out on open water (Revengen outside Sandhamn) No pics from that but I can say the boat handles bigger water very well. But we had a very nice night with friends, food and drinks. We had a plesant trip home yesterday... My boat in a rope and Tomas/Phil's Pantera on the bb-side of our friend Johnnys 34 Chris Craft
