Volvo 280's
A quick question for all of you history buffs.
I am trying to clean up the outdrives for my 73 magnum. Thing is, I was told from day one that they were Volvo 270's or 270T's. But I was checking around and it looks like they are 280's.
Can anyone enlighten me on the differences?
I believe there is a place in Michigan that sells replacement parts.
Thanks in advance.

Volvo Drives
Mitch Mark is correct on his description on the 70 & 80"s ...also there is no advantage to the exhaust coming thru the cavitation plate and they are interchangeable. The key factor on the older Volvo drives are the trimable. If not that is something you might want to look into. Also according to a good source parts are available .
On you question on the dash that should be the right one,the newer ones are much smaller. Bud

Thanks Bud and Mark...looks like I have 280's because I have the exhaust in the cavitation plate. I didn;t see that on diagrams I have seen of the 270's so I was confused. Mystery (for me) solved.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
