I posted this back in Jan of 07.. Areo Marine ??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Areo marine, Lancer marine, Predator, and yes Awesome marine, and more!! were boat companies in Michigan,, by the same guy, the 27' vee bottom's were a copy off the Magnum [Double Vision].

I know what you mean, I still have a account for now !! The deck looks like a Cougar Vee haul and early 80's Colbolt.

I bought the first offshore boat he sold back in 1974. I watched him make the mold off the Magnum around 1977. Then helped him get use of the [Board Walk] Shadow cat that he used at Awesome Powerboats. Also Lancer, Aero, Predator, were all boat companies Jim had here in Michigan.

No this was NOT built by Jim. My comment [is Mr Aero in Canada] was to say that copies were being made everywhere back in the 70's and 80's. This looks like a nice boat that you have but it is not a Florida Magnum.

How could I get any info on the builder or where there are more of these models. I looked so hard to find a boat like mine but have had no luck. You seem to know alot about this stuff.

So you know the previous ower of Awesome powerboats.
I am really interested in a 31' thunder cat. What do you think?

I'm going to Indiana to look at one next weekend.

I have been around offshores way to long,, but I tried to find more info on your's with no luck. With Awesome I broke ties with him long ago. But one of my friends raced one [Valvoline] and had many hull issues. I have owend a Active cat and rigged, & was with race teams that had a Image, & Shadow, and Skater cats. I would not race a Awesome,, my 2 cent's. There must be a reason Awesome of Michigan is no longer in business, I will leave it at that. Just read the early past Awesome post here on OSO.
