Nose Cones on older Volvo Drives
I posted this on the Tech section, but I'll probably get a better response here . . .
Does anyone run older Volvo Drives, such as the 270, 280T, or 290? I'm running a pair 383 strokers turning 280Ts (1.61:1) with Bronson Hill 15 x 27" props in my '72 Magnum 27 Sport. I am considering installing a pair of Hydromotive Volvo nose-cones, but I'm not sure if that would be a good thing or not. Does anyone have any experience with nose cones on these drives?

forrest- i have the 280 on my mirage and am considering the same thing. i did some cheking over on the hotboat forum (more volvo guys over there) and was told that the 280's start to cavitate at around 60 and the nose cone eliminates this. they are good for a couple of mph's also. and i didnt here anything bad about them. where did you find the cones at, directly from hydomotive ? i would like to try one on mine this season also.
just for a little more info, i was also told that the 280 was good to about 500 hp. one guy has had about 10 different engines in front of his over the years and is currently running a blown 502 with no problems. . . tuff drive. . .
have you ever seen the speedmaster lower that volvo made, if you can find a pair of these they are good for about a 10 to 15 mph gain over the 280 lower. . ..

Thanks glassdave. CP Performance sells Hydromotive nose cones for Volvo.
The e-drive (speedmaster type) lower unit is really fast, but realy tough to find these days.
