Default volvo speedy drives

My bud is looking for a pair of volvo drives for his magnum 27 sedan, he came across a pair of volvo speedy drives with trim/tilt. we are not familar with these drives, are there any downsides to swapping out these drives for current volvo 270s no trim? I am guessing parts availability would be an issue? seller wants $5k for complete packages?

The speedy part is only the lower. Here's one on a Volvo 270 drive.
Up side, speed increase; down side might be finding props. These drives were made in the early 70's. Check the Donzi forums, they still use Volvo drives and some with this lower.volvo speedy drives-volvo.png

Yep. Just saw the one for $5K.
Asking price may not be sale price though.

All depends. If I needed them for something like a classic race boat restore the sky or your bank account is the limit when in those positions. As for a choice.... One issue is these drive were not made for big modern power. Second they are rare and this is coming from a guy that has a 1.36 to 1, Volvo 280 in a 270 case (most of the guts are 280's) and a 280T transom shield (full trim). Rare means money like props are hard to find and will cost big bucks and as for any other part for it is almost nonexistent. Just kind of puts you in a box.
Now if you are good with being in that box they are cool and if you got the money you only live once. You don't see them come up for sale often.
