the boat ran 23-25kts.
great rough water boat, but rocked alot while drift fishing(expected w/ deep-v), and in a beam sea would sometimes ride hard to one side of the v.
Best part of the boat was going to the magnum plant(and cig) from 1976-1980s.

nice looks like a 70, sleek sports flybridge
I saw a nice blue hulled one open version in Italy, South Rome coast in San Felice Circeo, next to it there was also a 53 Maltese berthed with straight shafts, the 70 had Surface Drives
while Magnum was created by Don Aronow and has some credit to him, I think the transformation of this brand to something unique was all the capability of Mr.Theodoli, but also the owners before him did a nice job with the 35 and 38...

I got to know C. Everett Sutton well,MAGNUM G.M. He informed my that I had purchased the last 35' made, found it in upstate N.Y. in 1995. He told me they never produced a diesel 35'. Theodoli bought MAGNUM in app. 1976 with the intent of buidling larger yachts. My boat had 400hp Cyclones w/v-drives, cruised @ 30-32, best top speed was 39.7 gps. The only reason I sold it in 2000 was I broke down twice (motor problems) and could not get a 4-pad 25,000 lb. trailer to pick me up ( 12'3" beam) on week-ends, 27' MAGNUM w/trailer suits me just fine!!! Many times guests would comment on how smooth boat run in any sea condition. One memorable trip came out of Cape Cod canal heading up coast to Boston, in 5'-7' seas w/wind straight on app. 30 knots, had wipers on the whole way, didn't spill a drop out of my drink ever!!!
