Operation Dry Water 2010
WARNING
Increased BUI Enforcement
June 25-27, 2010
Boating Under the Influence is dangerous. Nationwide over 20% of boating-related fatalities are a result of alcohol use. Sun, wind, noise, vibration and motion intensify the effects of alcohol, drugs and some medications. They can slow reaction times, impair vision and lead to boating accidents.
Also, operating a boat with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .08% or higher is illegal. Penalties may include fines, jail, impoundment of boats and loss of boating privileges.
This weekend, as part of Operation Dry Water, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and Virginia Marine Resource Commission Police Officers are intensifying efforts to detect and deter boat operators who are operating under the influence of alcohol or dangerous drugs. The vessel's voyage will be terminated, the boat may be impounded and the operator may be arrested.
Never Boat Under the Influence!

Thanks for the warning.
They will probably be stinging key areas. I wonder if DNR or the CG really have additional boats or manpower to have a larger presence than any other weekend.
Last year I got stopped leaving Vera's on that weekend.

They had a lot of police boats at Leesavaynia state park on Merioal day Monday, but they looked awfully bored. Nothing really going on. News channel 7 was there. The only ones they were busting before were the little bow riders. the go-fast crowd is aware of their antics. (Boniculars and hiding in the woods waiting till you get all loaded up and you drive all the way to the front gate to pull you over.)
