As a frame of reference, I talked to my buddy on the phone yesterday who was sitting on his deck at Regatta Bay and for almost 30 minutes he only saw 1 jetski and 1 pontoon at 4pm on a Tuesday of 4th of July week. Yes, it was a Tuesday, but he said it has been dead like this for most of the summer. Not to mention, he said the real estate in his complex is stagnent, up to almost 30 units for sale there which is more than double the normal amount. Hopefully it will pick up the next few days to help the business out down there.

The last few weeks it has been picking up, we were at Coconuts last Sunday and you had to wait to park the boat - they have 44 slips. The weather has also been sketchy this summer.
We are waiting to take our vacation July 10 so we can hit the poker run on the 12th, Many others are doing the same.

We have a place in Witches Cove at the 4MM, which is by the golf course and has always been a favorite place for boats to cove out - it has been pretty busy this year - more people on the hook than running their engines.

I was down a couple of weekends in June and the lake was dead as a doornail. I see the weather as a bigger culprit than the gas (because I want to)- rain has been in the forecast almost every weekend for a month and a half. I think folks are thinking they can get rained on at home in lieu of driving a couple hundred miles to get rained on. I have checked on some rentals for this weekend and "they" seem to be full (which was not the case in June). I hope the lake picks up- then I can btch about how rough it is!!!!!!!

Would agree that traffic is way down. I am at the 19mm and have a main channel view for miles both ways. I would say if I notice a drop there, it has to be way down elsewhere. I have noticed quite a bit more gnats (waverunners) out and as usual their ability to pay attention and driving skills have not improved...
