Party cove is fun but nothing compared to how it used to be. Late 90's early 2000s it was sweet. These days there are so many cops we go maybe once a season even though we boat at loto every weekend.

Labor day is normally the busiest and the most consistant weather.

damn really... im in louisiana and we go to tickfaw and lake marepaus and lake ponchetrain and its not like that at all. They want the money for the economy. even with the poker runs there is some law enforcement but they only wait till the end to check papers. they are not looking to arrest people and prevent them from coming back! thats crazy!

There is plenty of money for the economy with or without party cove. We stopped going probably 10 years ago for a couple reasons. The main one was the water got so bad back there by late afternoon. We had a lot more fun when it was up at cove 14, before Porta Cima existed.

If you have never been definitely go. If you appreciate & care for your boat, stay away from the very back of the cove & gauntlet area. If we go (very rare nowadays), we just hang out at the upper end of the cove tied to about 6-10 boats and watch everyone idle in/out. Have a sober driver, papers, jackets, all USCG requirements, etc. & you should have zero issues. The holiday weekends can get wild and congested. Have fun.
