That last one shows how fast the boat was going- they launched during acceleration out of the turn,
they were in the air for about as long as I've seen a boat in the air.
So, a two-dimensional image can't portray that 3rd axis- and lateral motion is key.
Here's another after re-entry that looks like all is well. This was about the point I started to shift my attention.
The shot before this one tells more of the story...

Here's the first telltale shot that shows all is not as it seems.
Hard to see this detail in the beach sun.
The full frame view with a close-up of the drive at moment of re-entry.
Next frame shows the aft port quarter turned hard into the water.

So, that brings us to this point...
still looking in halfway decent shape, but reading the roostertail says more...
the boat is out of their control now, the corner has bounced off the water
and they are moving hard laterally to starboard.
Hard to see this, even in real time... these shots are at 8fps, all in a split second.
After this frame, I started to look away- seemed like they had it.

Thanks again to Matt Trulio and Speed On The Water for the hit...
Couple of links there as well to Ken Miller's great captures of the spin.

Great Shots Jay and realy glad all walked away unharmed.......can replace the boat.
What ended up being the deal with the Geico boat? She came out strong but it was clear something let loose. Also still sad the Qautar didn't even run at all on Sunday.....oh well though.

Qatar did not run.
Saw a post by Marc or Scotty about an issue with one side- engine or software I don't know.

That's a great shot of the buig 4 there. very nice.
Ya the radio team for Qatar was on the balcony next to ours....so I got excited hoping to see them but it seemed they were just there for the MTI boat and most left the balcony area before the race was over.

This shot was pure luck it was even in the frame.
In my usual great moment of brilliance, I was looking back up the course...
But, glad others were able to capture this moment from a different angle.
Total time between the 2 frames is less than a second.
