Questions for "faster" Flame owners (kinda long)

Rear central intake for flame arrestor. I can't remember the exact dimension (13"s?), but I sized the middle air intake to the same size as the rear factory intakes for continuity. If you enlarge the second picture you can see my flame arrestor.
You can also see where I replaced the ski pole with a transom light. In retrospect, I should have fabbed a removeable deck plug for the ski pole, and just put a quick release pin in the lower mounting bracket. That way you could use the ski pole when you want it, or remove it when you don't. Hey Nordic there you go...........

Looks familiar. Looks like a twin version of what I did.
Nice
, PS those blower pullers are way too big.............

Just curious Steve,
How many psi of boost are you running?
I am electronically limited to 7.5 lbs of boost.
I run a 3.25" pulley which is smaller than the stock 4"pulley.
Stock boost is limited to 4.5 lbs of boost.

When I was running the Merc/Weiand 256, I ran a 3" @ 6PSI intercooled. Stock pulley is 4". AZSM boost kit comes with 3.5". With the 871 I'm running a cog belt and pulleys and they go by tooth count. I would have to check the #s. It is making 8PSI non intercooled.

Yep that's my 575SCi hatch. Yep the pulleys are big.
That's how I have 450 reliable hours and 8 years on
those engines.
Mine was the first fat-ass Flame, between the heavy 575SCi's and the heavy hatch, it was unusually heavy in the rear. Porpoises when using zero trim tabs. An interesting lesson
in the effects of weight and balance in boat handling. Just
takes a little tab to cure the porpoise. A little more tab to
cure the dance at around 93.
Never dialed in props or hull. That often can solve walking and high speed handling issues. Never will. Happy with it like
it is. All I really want is reliability with decent speed.

Can you take a picture or two with the hatch closed, I picked up some 575 take offs but want to have a clear vision on the hatch look when closed. Thanks for the help. 93 sounds right, when I redid the 50o's with new cams and heads, PM dynoed them at 570 hp, & saw 93 all along, On a good day I saw 95 once.

Being the motorhead you are, I know you already are on this.....you'll have stronger motors (than the 575/flat tappet/7.5CR) with the roller cam and higher compression pistons in your 500EFIs. This should be a great combination that hopefully won't blow the drives off the transom. 650HP should be easy, 700+ with extra boost and ECU work.
Pesky,
Nice looking engines and engine compartment. I would call that PHAT, not fat

It's amazing how close the factory hatch mods look compared to mine with the 575. It is a "tall" motor to squeeze under the hatch (even taller with the 871), but I think the modified hatch and full sunlounge looks better than a scoop(s). I really like the way my hatch lays flatter with the raised rear edge. It's much more comfortable to sit or lay on.
Regards,
Steve
