Default speed question with 550 hp

If you increase the horsepower to 550 in a 28 Heat, what kind of speed do you estimate that would produce?

Is there any formula that you can use to estimate speed and horsepower.

Has a 1.5 drive on it with no spacer. I was thinking about putting a 1" spacer as many of the Heat owners have done.

Any suggestions or comments would be great - thanks.

I agree with John, 75-78 mph.

You will need a Bravo 28 pitch Bravo prop .. possibly thinned and sharpened if you need a little more rpm.

Definately go for the 1" spacer. This will increase your midrange speed by 2-3mph, and give you another 2 mph on the top end regardless of wheather or not you do the horsepower increase.

Chris

P.S. I have an extra 1" spacer I will sell you complete with new seals and hardware -- $200

fireman,

Yes, if your Heat is a 2000 or newer, it will increase your midrange speed by 2-3 mph, and usually give you about 2 mph on the top end.

There are several formulas floating around that are very accurate. The question is, exactly how fast your boat runs now and what is the hp. A 550 HP engine will be very close in performance to a 525EFI or a Raylar setup with headers. Both produce 550+ on the dyno.
