The Thor is back in the shop for a winter project
I have decided to keep the boat one more year so I decided to start another winter project. I am having a extension box put on and having the drive box and gimble painted silver to match the graphics. Steve my friend at RPM powerboats is installing the box and raising the engine and drive for the box. We are going to redrill the transom and hopefully get 2" of rise out of the drive. He is also going to fix a few other things wrong with the boat for me. I am so busy at work I dont have time to do it myself. BTW Steve is the best rigger and perfectionist I have ever met. I will keep everyone posted on progress but I told him to take his time as I am done for the season.

I have to agree... Steve at RPM is the nicest, most genuine person, I have met in the boat manufacturing buisness. His work is top notch, and always getting better. He is a perfectionist, and always easy to get hold of, and talk to.
Glad to see you are keeping your boat and improving it.
After that... it is just a 4.0 away from being all it can be.

Hey John, awhile back you posted some pics of the new engine for your boat. I want to set up my oil cooler mounting like yours but cant find any where its mounted on the right side of the engine. Can you give me a point of contact for your engine builder? Thanks......Casey

Hi John,
Sounds like a good project. The tunnel boats do like setback, and setback boxes. Why are you going to the trouble of raising the entire driveline? You can bolt the setback box on at your current XD, with the same (ie, lower) center of gravity, and play with prop shaft depth by changing lowers (-1", -2"). Seems like a lot less work for the same results. A lower CG may result in better handling, and leave more room on top of the motor if you decide to add a blower.
Regards,
Steve

I know this sounds a little selfish.... but....
While ya have the motor out... get the 4.0... I would love a 130mph ride at the Regatta next year.
