I am looking at a 1999 Heat with a 502. How is the performance getting to a plane? How about pulling a wake boarder?

I have an 05 Heat and wakeboarding is great! Getting to plane may be another story under 20mph. You may need trim tabs to see over the bow going any slower

With tabs it should jump right up onto plane but you might have to get up in the high 20's and then back it back down to avoid a long bow-rise when towing.

The 502 Mag has good low end torque. The low x dimension of the pre-step hulls (1999 and earlier) should also help planing at low speeds.

the 502 is a great motor i just purchased a 99 heat with the 502 in it. tabs are needed if you want to wake board if you do not want tabs a 22 pitch will get your bow down quick. i have both a 22 and a 24 pitch this way i am able to do speed or out of the hole. if you do not mind me asking what are they asking for it.

They are asking $27000. It seems a fair price. Going to look at it tomorrow.

that is a good price if it is in good shape i have to say i have been very impressed with the boat the one i bought was an open bow the only way the wife would let me buy a sport boat. if you want to add trim tabs i just installed some of the Bennett sport tabs and they work great was not that expensive either about 1100 installed. if interested i have a friend that can get them at a good price. just hit me up. good luck on the purchase.
