Default Nordic Upgrade

Hello

I'm considering upgrading from a Nordic Rage with a 496HO / Bravo X drive to a Nordic Heat with a Mercury 600 / XR drive.

Any feedback regarding pros / cons / reliability, with the 600 / XR package would be greatly appreciated?

Also is there substantial noise generated by the 600 with regards to the super charger / blower?

Thanks in advance.

Steven

Ya know Steve that boat is going to run circles around the Rage on a Desert Storm weekend. I love my boat for what we do with it but for a comfortable ride in a windy big lake I think the Heat is the way to go. If I could get my kids out of the house I'd look seriously at the Heat.

Have you looked at the 29 Escape? My buddy has a 2010 Escape with an Ilmor 725. Nice boat in the same size range.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NZaQ4mEGpsHere is a link of what the blower sounds like at 3000 rpm but with hatch down it is not bad at all (it is about half way threw the video).

I have had no issues with mine but it only has 100 hrs on it but so far so good, I did the Whipple upgrade at 13 hours.
It is a very fun package especially with the Whipple upgrade. Here is another video in the drivers seat and in the engine compartment at different rpm's it is quite loud in the engine compartment but not at all in the driver seat. (video is a little boring so you will heave to fast forward to the part where you see the gages)http://youtu.be/bfh-xTHOhPI

Ya wife thinks I've gone goofy, it doesn't take much to keep me intertaned. I see you have an imco lower on your boat did you see any speed improvement with the more pointy nose on the drive?

I don't know, its been on there forever. I've raised my prop a couple inches, helps with handling. I didn't care for the 5 blade, that's probably why yours was chine walking in that video like that. Mine did that too. I run a 1.36 with 28P.

My drive is still at the stock height which is pretty high so the 5 blade props work better for me, the boat is pretty stable with the smaller diameter Maximus prop that I run but in the video I was crossing some side ways rolling waves form other boats so that is way it looks like it is chine walking. Your boat looks like it moves right along how fast is it?
