Aaron welcome to the Nordic Navy, if we didn't say so. We really do have a great group of owners here.
You too Dirty D if we welcome you as well. Did you buy your boat from a guy who went by Boatingbent? If you did that is a beautiful boat.
He brought it to Lake Cumberland a few years ago for our old East Coast Nordic Regatta. Nice man as well.
I am always happy to help the Nordic crew get their boats running properly.
We have accumulated a really good database on these boats over the years.

Not sure it may have been his originally I bought boat in Idaho sight unseen I drove 2300 miles to get it and 2300 miles to bring it home I believe the guy I bought it from said it came from Tennessee Kentucky area I would like to know more info on its origins if anyone knows thanks

Yes I bought Bent's old boat! I spoke with him a couple times before I bought it, super nice guy! I love this boat! I do most of my boating on Cumberland. Thank you for all your help!

Update I tried a new tach this weekend and came up with new results 27p5x was 84 @ 5600 rpm not originally posted @ 5300 rpm which I believe puts me at 12% slip I would still like to get a little more rpm I would really like to try a labbed 26 p5x or maybe someone can chime in on another prop

Mach 1, I think you found your ideal setup. I show 12% too. If you go down in pitch, your cruise RPMs will go up, and you'll be using more fuel at the same speed.
How much boost are you running now? I assume you have the Whipple intercooler.
Obviously you'll get more boost with a smaller blower pulley. I would keep the 27 P5-X and try to turn it faster.
Another alternative is having your propeller blueprinted.

It has whipple inter cooler and I'm running 7 lbs of boost I think I'm maxed out for my little 2.3 whip ole and further suggestions would be great I am happy with performance especially since I have added a lot of extra weight with all of my stereo I guess I'm just going to have to build more cube 5 liter

i agree. A friend had some 2.3s on a twin HP 500 Fountain. The boat ran well at 7PSI.
We tried more boost (I think 10PSI?) and it didn't make any changes at all. A small blower will just make heat at some point.
Even the efficient whipple intercooler has a hard time offsetting the heat.
I went from Weiand/Merc 250 to a BS 871, and it really helped. More boost and very little heat even without an intercooler.
I have had 0 problems with the BS871. I was spinning the little 250 so fast, the seals and bearings had to be replaced every year.

I agree hi boost and heat don't mix I think if I don't build a bigger motor maybe I will sell the 2.3 and put a 2.9 or 3.3 whipple on it the motor is built to handle more boost just like everyone else I just want a little more!

I've built several Whippled 496s. They all made 650-660 with stock heads. I would guess you are 700+ with much better heads. Your boats performance seems to confirm that.

Thanks for reply I'm not running a spacer yet going to try 5 blade first then go from there I'm running a 496 .30 over forged internals iron eagle heads with a 2.3 whipped 7lbs boost and cmi headers not sure of horsepower any one have estimated horsepower please do tell I haven't had it on a dyno yet rev limiter is set at 5800 boat handles better at 80 then 65 lol

Thanks Bob I'm happy with it so far if I took a bunch of weight out of it (stereo and batteries) I'm sure it would b faster but not as much fun pics are in another thread under custom 2004 heat jay posted pics for me thanks again jay I think I just need to maybe call b blades and talk with Brett and try some more props I would like to spin it to 5800
