Labor Day weekend was an expensive one for me
I dropped my phone in the lake on Sunday evening, then Monday morning on the way to the boat ramp to load out my lifter collapsed and on the way home I broke a belt on one of the trailer tires. My 525 only has 239 hours and has been ticking on and off all summer since 203 hours. I pulled the valve cover on that side at 220 hours and removed the rockers to inspect everything. I didn't find anything so I re ran the rockers and the tick went away until the week before Labor Day. You could only ever hear it at idle with the hatch open, I changed the oil and cut open the filter the weekend before Labor Day and found nothing in the filter. I was planning on doing a top end freshen up this fall and then this happened. Oh well at least it made it all summer and it could always be worse!

Mine did the exact same thing, but Memorial Day weekend 2014. Rushed the build to get ready for the TX Outlaw Challenge, never ran right the whole summer. Took it back at the end of season for another rebuild. Moral of story, don't Rush!!!! Now it runs like it's meant to be, fast and lots of torque.

Yes you could say that Phragle! Those pieces are the roller tip that broke off the lifter and if you look closely you can see the needle bearings also. No rushing here!! I have all winter and heck it's already winterized now!

That was kind of a joke but the antifreeze and water has all been drained anyways. The motor will be coming out of the boat in a week or so when I get time.
