Default Cost to Whipple

I contacted Teague Custom Marine and they told me that it would cost around $6,000 for the Whipple and that I should upgrade my Bravo 1 x to the xr drive and install external steering. All this would cost around $20,000 includeing installation. This is more then I am able to go at this time. Has any one else been getting this price.

$20k - Wow! Let's talk. I have a 2003 28 loaded, 525Efi, steering you name it. Boat has 40 hours and is perfect.

For 20K your getting close on a trade!

We have been told that the 496 will hold up supercharged. You will need to change many internal parts and do major head work (496 does not have roller rocker). Arizona Speed is the place to call.

Mr. Gov't, I think you could do your upgrades a little cheaper. I'm a Whipple & Nordic dealer, but I'm in Texas. I could save a little for you on the blower but you would still have to find someone to install it for you. Your X drive may very well hold up if you drive it conservatively. If not a new XR can be bought for about $7000 and it's a simple bolt on. External steering would certainly be recommended. However you would only be running mid to upper 70's with that power and that hull is really stable, so I'm not sure it's an absolute requirement. Really depends on how you drive the boat. At the most you would just need an add on system. PM me if you'd like some pricing.

I know Mr. Gov't boats in the Chesapeake Bay. I think that external would be a good idea since the water there is choppy and would be putting stresses on the present system. I had it on my Nordic that I used on Long Island Sound and I'm glad I had it.

Nordic Gary,

What's your current top end? I still have my solid red Crownline with the Whipplecharged 502.

Come on down to Texas, and we'll run 'em!

Hey Clay,

Good to here from you. I'm getting 89-90 GPS, still stock 500EFi's. Would love to plan a trip back to Texas. You and your lady friends did a great job of entertaining us at 76 falls.

Stay in touch
