Anyone in need of head work in our area should consider Mike @ High Flow Heads in Alsip il.
https://plus.google.com/118157743833...ut?gl=us&hl=en
Super great guy, extremely honest, very sharp (Bob Madera approved
) in business for the last 30 years, specializes in combustion chamber improvements.
The BBC especially suffers from a bad Combustion Chamber design and Mike does wonders to improve efficiency , fuel burn, power, and even better gas usage due to a better more complete burn and air flow.
Back in my Drag racing days I had an 5.7 small block LT1 (260-300hp stock @ the crank) With just Mikes work on the heads and a slightly bigger LT4 hot cam I pulled 400rwhp on the dyno. Unheard of back in the day.
100-150hp improvements with combustion chamber work alone.
My latest High Flow heads:
These have over 35 hours of just C.C. work .. partially due to the difficulty of working with Iron heads, Mike does prefer Aluminum, sorry Mike!

That is a lot of patience involved to do that nice of a job. Probably why I have only ever done one set of heads

I did not have Mike do any porting of the runners. All I kept from the heads was the valves everything else was replaced so it was not in the budget.. Iron Eagles are pretty big head to begin with... I did not have Mike flow them.
Combustion chamber is where the most buck for my money was. The previous 3 valve jobs were sunken in pretty good and never blended in.. Probably 40 cfm right there. Piston hitting valve had to be adressed (not as much of a big deal as one would think) Back cut valves etc...
You`re right Andy, it is a work of art. To be able to see with a sculpters eye the work required, then duplicate it in 16 chambers and to have the patience to do all that ?? Mike is a dying breed , I don`t care what CNC program they come up with no machine can duplicate that kind of work..
Wish I had more before pics but I only took one:
