Rule question
Is it legal to run the blue impellor and a aftermarket pump case on our 525 motor in SVL? We seem to burn out a fair share of the stock ones. Im sure there is no advantage, just reliability but thought I better ask. We all know rule #1 Ask first and dont assume.

So based on that, my opinion would be no.
Randy,
Are you loosing these impellers do to lack of water?
Maybe it is time to put in a manifold with a check valve for all the times you are flying through the air. You would have more of a buffer instead of running them dead dry as soon as the boat leaves the water...
We ran such a system on our triple engine outboard cat. The manifold kept water pressure to all 3 engines, even if one or two engines weren't picking up water from it's gearcases.
I don't know what your rules state in regards to water pickups.
But I can see a hull mounted pick up with a manifold and check valve maybe fixing your issue....
Do you know any plumbers ???

The OSS most likely wont have a problem with a reliability issue. If there is a HP advantage then all bets are off. Its the same reason you can run XR gears instead of stock Bravo.
Bruce is right it needs to go threw the proper people for clarification.

Shark, also its not that the stock impellor is bad its just that it doesnt take much to smoke one. If you get a little mud at the dock or when you pull the boat out it seem's the next time you start it, it takes a little time for it to start pumping and in that little time wears. I now have a sea strainer which has helped but would like to get rid of it if the impellor would last longer. The 525 has its own cooling system so running it low on water for that second when you are out of the water wont effect the motor.
