Re: Volunteers For Oc Race
Thanks racers and sponsors, please don't think my frustrations are directed at anyone in particular.
I am just venting and echoing what I have been hearing all weekend. Perhaps this is why these events are always short on volunteers.
As you racers know, a lot of time, prep and money goes into a race. The organizers should also remember that there is a huge expense in being a volunteer.
I live 10 minutes from Sunset Marina and spent a lot of $$$, took two days of vacation, got yelled at by my wife and got moved around by Sunset Marina Staff everytime I docked my boat (even after I told them I needed to load divers on my boat) It was very frustrating. I was there to help, hell I even knew the staff at Sunset. I guess it's time to tightem them up with the red and blues.
I know you guys and gals put a lot on the line including your life when you get in these boats. I enjoyed seeing you come back to OC. I met a lot of great people. I know the organizers were busy, I was with ron every 2 seconds his phone rang.
Thank you for responding to the post and thank you for bringing back the Offshore Races to Ocean City. It was great seeing it here again.
The organizers should designate someone to see that the volunteers are taken care of.
Carmen Electra comes to mind.

Just got back and want to send a special thank you to Stephan ( in a 26 Sonic) who towed me (Lock'd Up P6-6) for 90 minutes keeping me out of harms way. If anyone knows Stephan's full name and address, I would like to send him a Thank You. Thanks again to ALL who made this race happen!!!!

Thanks for the assistance...on a rough-water day.
We can't do a race without the help of ALL the Volunteers...
It is Much Appreciated!

Re: Volunteers For Oc Race
Tony, a proper thank you will be forthcoming via email to everyone associated with this event.... later tonight.
But especially to you for braving the elements to pickup the markers.
We all learned a lot this weekend, some good, some bad, definitely room for improvement in many ways next year.
Hope you had fun being a part of it.
