Default New Ilmor 625hp w/Teague platinum drive

Looking for some more feedback regarding power options for a new Outerlimits 39 Quattro.

The more I hear about the new Merc 600, the less think it is worth the dough to upgrade.

What has anyone seen or heard about the new 625hp Ilmore piece???

What have people's experience been with the Teague Platinum drive???

I know they have run the above Ilmore package in a new 39 GTX and it ran sweet. Still it makes me nervous to get away from Merc.

Why would you be nervous about going away from an engine that costs $5,000 more and runs the same as a 525?

Apparently the Ilmor MV10-625 powered 39' GTX will be evaluated by PowerBoat in Sarasota very soon. The results should be interesting.

I also heard there's a lot of interest in the Ilmor 625 from some major players which should become apparent in the coming months.

Dank, the wife and I boated in Lake St. Clair for years and would vacation up in Charlevoix, MI a few times a summer until we bought a place in Char. town, unfor., not on the lake! So we spend just about every w/e up there boating in the summer. Gorgeous waters, great day trips out of Lake Charlevoix into Lake MI. If Lake MI. is rough , we can boat on Char., find a great place to throw anchor and hang! Cold waters but just fabulous. You look into the water and think it is 6 feet deep and your depth finder says 15 or 20 feet! Take care, Tracy

wrink,

yeah, i have boated a lot in Mich. I grew up there, and am back every summer. I have some great memories of what you describe.

I am in crunch time to pick power for this 39OLQ. What do you think Wrink?

p.s. Have you ever run up in the 1000 islands. Clayton, or "Alex" bay NY??

Dank., have not boated at all in the areas above. I here the 1000's are real nice. I think the 525's would be hard to beat. Proven, warrantied w/ the drives. The wine of those 600's is cool but have not been to impressive from what I have heard. Not just Mike at the show but I had a Fountain dealer tell me in some trials in a boat or two they were not running much better than the 525's in the same boat, if at all! Only my opinion. Good luck Wrink
