Re: Great Deal On Pantera
Have you or the previuos owner ever had the boat at Chesapeake Yacting Center, CMS service, having drive repairs done by Tony.
If this is the same boat that I saw there it is a 28 retired race boat bought by a automotive wholesaler at a auction. He purcahsed it empty and had the engine and drive built for his own spec, @ 1999-2000 year.
I understand she blows the drive apart on a regular basis because too much strain. Should really spend the extra money and go to either a Imco or XR drive to cure.
Nice boat though, someone will come along.

Re: Great Deal On Pantera
this is not the same boat...the motor was built by joel ross and 3 yrs ago I worked on it prior to the blower mrt and it had the origial drive on it then 2 yrs ago joel built the motor and then rick passed away last christmas...so his wife now wants to finish building a cabin that they started together in pa and thats why she is selling it........ this boat is very memerable because it has lcds on the back of the head rests just as Mikeformula says he is correct...
They have put over $80,000 into this boat
this boat is 100% all it needs is a little work on the cockpit and trailer
I should have some more pics in the next day or so

Re: Great Deal On Pantera
If you send me your email, i'll send you some pics of it that i took last week when I looked at it(too big to post, and i'm too lazy to resize). Hull is in great shape, the interior needs work though. It'll make someone a great boat. I made an offer that she didn't accept, but it might be worth more to someone looking for something different from what I'm looking for.

Re: Great Deal On Pantera
Nothing wrong with an XZ drive, had one on my 650 hp Daytona and it's still reliable after4 seasons. Some argue that they are better as the forged helical gears kind pump the oil through somewhat (This was info From Mike at Dollar yrs ago)
My XR is living real well in my 28 at 600+ HP, just opened it up at 144 hrs and it was superclean- proceeding with a 790 hp install with no worries. Some people can break anything and some people can rebuild a drive 1000 times and make the same mistakes every time- nothing to fear here IMHO.
