sand into the sea strainer- did I fix it right?

So I went to Navarre/Destin for 4 days and despite my good intentions, I found some sand, never felt it hit, might have just grazed.
I noticed things sounded different after idling 100 yds out from Juana's/being beached and attempting to get on plane- looked at the gages, water temp was 180ish, shut it down.
Quickly found strainer to be full enough to the intake hose. cleaned the strainer, unplugged the hose to the strainer and flushed. removed the line to the sea pump and there was hardly and sand in it at all, flushed it too. Running a KPM pump with run dry capability.
Cleaned reassembled and all ran good including water pressure.
Do I have to worry about lingering sand in the block or does it flush out over time (if there is any in there)

I don't think it will flush out. Mine has some sediment in it every time I tear it down and I never have ran aground , it just gets in there I guess from monurving around,churning up the bottom when I am in shallow places.

I lost an engine once..packed with sand. The guages never read hot because the top was still cool....Pull the drans & fish around inside with water running

Been racing too much and finally got to sand removal, got about 1/4 cup or less out of each side- flushed each side for about 30 minutes with the drain plug just above the oil pan removed. there was an initial "wad" then some sandy water then clear within a minute. Think that will be an annual and every trip to the ocean thing.

glad to here you got rid of the sand , sounds like you had fun in the ocean . How is that new blower motor working out for you ? What pitch 5 blade are you running on that beast .

It's a strong runner, even in the sweltering heat wave. The blower (2.3) is really a bit undersize for the 540, will likely sell eventually and replace it with a 3.3 and a cam change, then dial down boost a bit for a detuned reliable setup. I've been high 70's with lotsa gas, 99 degrees, 1120 ft of elevation and flat water so I'm pretty confident 80 is there with more favorable conditions.
The ocean trip wa sa blast, will do at least once a yr, maybe go down to Destin for the races in Nov.
I had a 25" p5x for the 575, Throttle up reworked it to 26", and I've been seeing 5100-5200 out of it so it should be about right overall. did not want to lab it as I'd rather have it stout than chase the last digit or so.
