Prop for a 24

Re: Prop for a 24
Based on your motor specs I would try to prop for 5000 to 5300 so that the motor will make the most power. If you are leaning twards the 4 blade I think that a stock Bravo1 24 pitch would do the trick or a labbed 26. A 3 blade would still be a little better on top end but you may like the accelleration, midrange, and handling of the 4 blade especially if you plan to take a few people with you. I think that Stormrider had a 500hp 454 in his 24 maybe he will chime in.

Yes, my 461ci was making 560hp @ 6000rpm, 540hp @ 5500rpm, and peak torque of 550 @ 4800rpm.
I liked my 23mir+ the best. 3500rpm=45.5mph 4000rpm=52mph 4500=60 5000=68 5500=75(max) cruise 3800=50mph.
I didn't like the 22b1 i tried, handling wise.
4000rpm=50 5650rpm=72(max)
Maybe a labbed 24 would have been the ticket, but i liked the handling characteristics of the mir+ better and was happy w/ the speeds.
Didn't feel like spending another 800+ for 1mph or so.

Which model Turbo 3 blade did you try?
I'm going to try either a Lightning or their new TXP ø14.75".

Funny you should ask, I did get out to try another this afternoon...
We had 2 on board and 1/2 tank of gas.
First we ran with a Turbo Fusion 4, 14.5" dia. X 27p.
Then my labbed 15.25" dia. X 28p Bravo 1.
My boat handled vary well with the Turbo, the hole shot was excellent and the prop never broke free in corners. Top speeds were 73.6mph running north and 74.1 running south @ 4800rpm.
The labbed Bravo 1 was faster on top, 75.3mph running north and 76.1 south @ 4900rpm. With the Bravo 1 the boat seem to run a bit higher in the water when I trimmed up in calm water.
The Turbo felt a little more stable navigating through the 3-4ft confused water we experienced in traffic.
I'll be sticking with my labbed B1 because it is a little faster, probably because it is "labbed"...
