Hey Dave,
I had a 1978 28ss like yours. The original power was 280HP/350s hook to TRS drives. The boat ran about 60mph on her best day. We bumped the power to about 320 per side with new cams and intakes and she still only ran a best of 63mph while we owned her. I must say that boat was/is a wave crusher...

Pat,
Yea, I have about 300 per side. I'll eventually put a nice set of 383's in it but the TRS drives really slow it down because theyre so deep. And 20 grand for Konrads is out of the question. But yes, it goes through 2-3 foot chop like a freight train. Much like the 28 Pantera.

My 24 used to run a 29P Mirage. Not a plus, just a Mirage. Previous owner got 91 on radar with it with 620 HP.

I still have it if you are interested in purchasing it cheap. It is in perfect shape.

Hey T.
I got my boat running yesterday. Time to mount the drive and fix a bunch of little things. She should be ready for the water first weekend in May.
How's your project going?

Hey Dave,
One thing I never did try but I do know a fellow that had good luck with.
Have you ever tried spinning the props in rather than out?

No I have not tried that. I'm way too lazy to move those heavy drives. But I might now that you say someone had some benefit of doing it.

Come on Dave,
Grab a buddy and a 12 pack. You can have those drives swapped in 30min.
What are you running for props?
The fellow I know ran Mirages.
We found Turbo Vectors were a tick faster than Mirages.

Hey T.
I have a labbed 26p B1 I just got back from BBlades. The prop has been works a few times so the blades are a little smaller than stock and real thin like a knife.
I bet your beast would spin close to 6K with this prop.
Ready to test yet?
