They didn't make an orange Avalanche in 2004 when I got mine!
You did mean tow "rig" ? (although tow pig as in gas consumption would be accurate)

Mine is very quiet. My other car is the new style Acura TL and I think this Avalanche is a quieter ride. It's got the Bridgestone Duellers which seem to be quiet.
I drove it to work today, which is mostly higway, and I've found I'm developing a bad habit of watching the instant fuel mileage guage, which also shows when it's in 4 banger mode.

I have 20" Duellers as well. The tires are quiet but the wind noise coming in the doors is horrible. I was about ready to take it back thinking a seal was bad but I have two friend with them and they do it too. Kind of annoying.

I think I'd take it back.
I've got 500+ miles on mine so far, and it's been very quiet. I been 80+ and haven't noticed anything. I'll pay more attention tonight on my way home and report back tomorrow.

And it pulls 10,500 lbs! It does drink the gas though!

Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but the dealer installed the vent visors on mine, which may help a little bit of noise around the windows.
