I recently purchased an 81 24'. along with a 3 blade 23 prop cleaver style, he gave me a bravo 1 4 blade prop with an adapter.... anyone run this setup or have experience with a bravo 1

any benefits to the 4 blade over the 3??

If your 81 has a TRS drive you will probably like the Mirage plus 3 blade the best, then a 3 blade hydromotive for top end then a 4 blade bravo1 labbed for all around use. how large is the hub on the bravo2 prop?, I think it will drag a lot.

sorry, yes it is a bravo 1 24p. just saw that I posted a bravo 2 I'll fix that. The prop that is on it now is a 3 blade cleaver style but I do not see any make on it. when you say lobbed is that just cut? sorry for the questions I'm just getting into boating and I'm reading up as much as I can as fast a I can but I get curious.

Hi Beck, as mentioned before, we still need to know what outdrive you are running. (assuming the prop is the "Bravo I" and not the outdrive. I run a 23 pitch "Precision" brand three blade on my 1980 with a 330 TRS package. I always wanted to try a 23 pitch Mirage Plus to see the difference. Everyone on this board seems to think that is the best option.

The best prop for a 24 Pantera non race height is a Mirage Plus. When I had my 24 with a 550 hp motor it ran best with the Mirage Plus compared to Quad IV Hydro and the Bravo`s. I would not run a cleaver on a Bravo drive. I have seen it done before with no effect of gaining anything.

it is a 330/merctrans/trs package. I was told that it had head work to bring it to 370hp but no way to verify. what is the diff between the trs and bravo?? and why would one prop be preferred on one or the other??

I'm not 100% for sure but I think the TRS puts the propshaft deeper in the water.

I have a Bravo drive and the propshaft that is 4.3" below below the bottom of the boat. The standard Mirage is faster than the Mirage Plus on my boat but it does ventilate easily. The Rev4 works great on my boat boat as well for a four blade.

You have some great props to gather data with and possibly have the Bravo1 worked to really dial it in. The cleaver should have some numbers in the hub near the propnut mounting surface. Get this and wot rpm's data with both props and post the data. I know someone here that might trade a Mirage plus for your Bravo1 if that is the way you want to go.

will do..... I work offshore and will be out for two weeks. I am having the merctrans transmission rebuilt this week and it should be good to go next week. the numbers I found on the three blade cleaver are as follows.... 2327 on one side, 487609a2 23p on the other. I looked on the prop and by the cleaver it looks like it was either cut or welded. I'll try to post a pic... Can anyone explain lobbed prop to me???
