Default 750 In A 24

Ok so has anyone put big power in a 24? I found a 24 that has been sitting for many years and needs a total rehab, I am thinking about making this a winter project. I have plenty of extra parts laying around for the boat drive, steering, gauges, controlls, ect... For power I have a spare 750 sitting on the shelf, just wanted to know if anyone has ever put this kind of power in one of these and if so, how did the boat handle it. What kind of speed, bad chin walk ect..

That 750, is it a marine engine?
You have the dyno sheet on that?
Kirk had 650 in a 24, and i know of some 24 superboats w/ bigger power.
Chine walking wasn't so bad w/ 550hp @ 75mph. I never noticed it.
The boat will be quite a handful at 85+.

It actualy made 743hp and was built for marine, I kind of think its a little overkill, I had this motor in a 27 fever and took it out because the boat was to much to handle. I think the step had alot to do with the handling problems though.

I don't think you will have any chine walking problems but you'll have to drive the chit out of it if you do a WFO run! With 700+ hp you will be in the low to mid 90s. The nice thing would be the 70mph "cruise".

My 24 did 89 with my 638 HP. Previous owner was radared at 92 MPH with 650 HP.

The boat is a bit of a handful over 85 and it has huge tabs. It can be done safely, just be carefula nd make sure everything is in good working order - steering, gimbal etc...

I remember Jo telling me a while back that the old 24 race boat "Plum Loco" had real big power in it at one time... Not sure of the exact #'s but I am pretty sure it was more than the 750 you are asking about... Not sure what year the boat is you are talking about , but even if it is an older boat (a bit heavier) I would still think with the boat setup right should run Well into the 90's...

Not sure of his exact power #'s either but I know (Tmone) here on the board has a fast 24...

Anthony's boat runs in the low 80s with 600HP.
750HP is a lot of power for a 24' and my guess would be well into 90s.
Jo can tell you how much to crack 100.
good luck and be safe,

Saw this boat today, it's gorgeous so I was searching for it to see what the story was.
