i'd be very interested in killer bee if anyone knows who i can contact, i think that's one of the coolest 28's in my opinion... the paint job on "vongos" is not what i'm looking for, but i would be willing to buy it, the owner does not want anything less than 60 for now. it could take a little time but at 55 we would be almost at the price i'd like to purchase that particular boat at.
I paid a fair bit for mine but I have some serious hardware on mine and it was rigged by Jo and Pepe for themselves to race with so I figured I would pay a premium for that. You need to figure out what you want. Do you want a twin boat, do you want a fast boat, do you want one with a pretty paintjob, etc. Figuring out your prioroties makes it alot easier to narrow down the field.
I wanted a fast boat with the best motor drive package I could get. I didnt care about cabin space, stereo, or paint. Someone had told me to buy as much horsepower as I could afford, so I did! I am already wishing I had more because we have let it hang in mine and once you get used to it you want MORE POWER.
I ended up buying a boat with a 710hp engine with low hrs (65hrs when I bought it). It is hooked up to an Imco extreme drive, external hydraulic steering, etc...boat is black and has a race cockpit. I got a good price in my opinion but I didnt steal it by any means. I paid what I thought was fair.
One thing I learned about boat shopping is if you do enough homework you start to see that you get what you pay for, no more no less. Oh yah that and also that engines are basically grenades--you dont want to be the guy holding the thing when she blows and neither does the next guy so be careful and do a leakdown test and get a survey. Make sure you see the motor heat up to running temp and watch it cool down.

i like Bongos boat... if it had a different paint job i probably would have offered 55. nice new paint 5k (i might find one that i like) the reason that the owners price does not have much margin for negitioation is because it has a bank note. by the time they sell the boat, it could very well be that they will have forked out more than 10k in monthlys and insurance...... sometimes you have to lose to win. Been there, Done that!
