Is there any trick or method to achieve a less rolling ride once up to speed?
My boat planes out, I start to trim it up a little, but once up over 70 it starts rocking and rolling like crazy.
I still have yet to get my hands on a 28P Bravo, so now I'm running a 28P Stern Driver. Is my problem the prop?
The only way I can get the boat trimmed and riding somewhat smooth at higher sppeds is drop the bow and hit the tabs. This of course bleeds off my speed.
I'm sure many of you have been through this, any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Kirk

Hey Kirk,
It sounds to me that you are running a Hydromotive (sterndriver ) ??? prop on your boat now. This is not the correct prop to run on the 24 model. It has to much diameter and a cleaver style design which gives added transom lift and causes the boat to run flatter than needed. The 24 bottom does not have as much rocker as the 28 footer and will run flatter from the get go compared to a 28.I like running 3 blade Mirages on the 24 model or a Bravo 1 4 blade since it will give you more bow lift and reduce hull drag. The Hydro works pretty good in the 24 when it is rough water but not smooth.
Also check and make sure you do not have air in your steering system.Do you have full hydraulic or a partial add on set up with the Mercruiser cable.
I did not do the installation on the Marine Machine steering on your boat.It had a standard Mercruiser rotary rack steering when delivered in 99 powered with a stock 7.4 MPI 310 HP.Now you have 600 HP and about 15-20 more mph.
Switch props and check the steering. Those 24s are stable at high speeds so you just need to find the solution to your problem.Let me know if I can help you with anything.
You can run the tabs level with the bottom at high speeds to increase stability and work them up gradually at top speed as you feel comfortable.
I would stick to your 3 blade Mirage 29 or 30 pitch.
regards,
JO

I'm trying the 29P Mirage this weekend. It just seemd like it slipped or blew out alot.
As far as the steering, its still a half hydraulic set up using the merc cable. I'm negotiating with a friend for a hydraulic set up.
As I'm running this et up, how can you bleed it? I assumed that rotationg the sterering forces the air out correct?
Thanks for your input Jo. We love this boat!!
