Great job Albert. Nothing like taking pride in your boat and doing the work yourself!!! You seem to have that thing dialed in well.

I could use some help. I'm running a 28P Bravo1 and can only spin it at 4650 RPM and 78 MPH GPS. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I should be able to spin a 28P faster than 4650. Here's more data:

Not trying to steal your limelight Albert, just would like to know what you've done to set up your awesome boat! I won't hit 100 but should be in the 90's with my set up right?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS,WHAT IS YOUR X-DIMINSION AND DO YOU HAVE A STAND OFF BOX.YOU
SHOULD BE SPINNING A 26 TO GET YOUR BOAT TO
MAX HP TO SEE WHERE YOU ARE AT.WITH THE POWER
YOU SAY YOU HAVE AND KNOWING THE WAY PANTERA
CUTS THE X HEIGHT IT SHOULD BE A 17 YOU SHOULD
BE SPINNING THE 28 WITH NO PROBLEM.DO YOU HAVE
ALOT OF STUFF HANGING DOWN IN THE TRANSOM THAT COULD BE SLOWING YOU DOWN.IF YOUR SPEEDO TUBE IS TO CLOSE TO V BERTH THAT CAN TAKE SOME GOOD WATER FROM YOUR PROP.ALSO DO YOU GET THE WATER FROM YOUR OUTDRIVE OR FROM A TRANSOM PICK UP TUBE,SOMETIMES PEOPLE DONT REALIZE SPECIALLY WITH STAINLESS MARINE PICK UP TUBES ANDINSTALL IT TO LOW AND THAT CAN MAKE YOU LOOSE A FEW MPH.
GOOD LUCK

Sorry to hear about your ignition troubles, better to sort it out now before you take off into big water!!!

I don't have anything slowing my boat down, using water pick up in the drive and speedo pick up in the drive. just tabs and the drive on the back. I just don't understand why I'm not spinning that prop faster.

I'm looking to test and/or buy a 26P RH Bravo. If you know of anyone with one, let me know.

If you think of any other reasons that I'm not running as fast please advise.

Good luck with the ignition.

Kirk

Hi Brian,

Alberts 28' does have a notch transom on it.I set the drive on that 28' at 20 1/2.That 28' has a completely different set up than yours. It is much lighter due to no cabin,no cockpit liner, lighter lamination, and you run the boat further back in the cockpit with the race dash insert we would use back then.

Alberts 28' weighed 4,650 pounds race ready for A-class in 1995 with a single big block.Your 28' will weigh approximately 5,400 pounds.

Regards,

JO
